Volunteer Education Ambassadors

SAGE's National Resource Center on LGBT Aging Education Ambassador Program provides volunteers with a set of resources to educate their own communities about LGBT aging issues.

Once you register to become an Education Ambassador you will be:

  • Given access to our Education Ambassador Toolkit. This digital toolkit contains: a PowerPoint presentation titled "Understanding and Supporting LGBT Older Adults," a presentation script, a document answering Frequently Asked Questions, and a feedback form.
  • Entered into our Education Ambassador database, so that groups in your area can contact you directly to request a presentation.

Education Ambassadors are encouraged to seek out opportunities to use these materials in their communities. The National Resource Center will pass along any requests we receive, but we are not able to locate speaking opportunities or organize Ambassador presentations.

Volunteer Education Ambassadors are different from our Certified Trainers. The Certified Trainers have received extensive training on our entire curriculum and are able to facilitate our full range of training products. At this time we are unable to train more Certified Trainers, but if you are interested in becoming a certified trainer, please contact Leon Avelino (lavelino@sageusa.org) and your name will be added to our wait list of potential trainers.
