Wingspan Ministry is a ministry of St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church that offers pastoral care, education, advocacy and support for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) people. Its mission is to empower the members of the congregation (and others) to affirm the place of GLBT persons in church and society through pastoral care and counseling for individuals and families( including spouses and gay/lesbian youth ), education and consultation with other church professionals and in varied institutional settings (schools, mental health programs, social service agencies, universities, and colleges, etc.) and advocacy within church and other social institutions.

Partnership by Design

San Francisco’s Openhouse ( and On Lok ( are partnering to help the city’s LGBTQ older adults age with dignity, independence and pride. The two nonprofits are co-designing a program that addresses two critical issues in this community: accessing much needed aging services, and ameliorating the LGBTQ elders’ fears that life in a nursing home would drive them back into the closet.
