“"Over 42% of people said that community fear or dislike of LGBT people was a problem for them in accessing healthcare."”

This assessment of LGBT Health and Human Service Needs in New York State was designed to examine existing data sources, identify gaps in data and collect original data in order to establish the most pressing needs and gaps for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) non-HIV health and human services in New York State. To that end, New York State Department of Health and New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene surveys were analyzed, 60 experts in LGBT health and human services were interviewed (individually or in groups) and nearly 3,500 LGBT people took an online or paper survey about their health and human service needs.
